Issues with running Crossware Mail Signature and Domino 8.5.1
There have been reported issues with Crossware Mail Signature release 2 & 3 installed on Domino 8.5.1.
Symptoms are platform dependant and can range from license information not being printed to the console log, to the failure of Crossware Mail Signature to load without any errors in the log file.
The cause of the problem is identified to changes that IBM has made to the way the Domino server writes to the log file. The changes has been made to improve the performance but apparently it has influenced not only Crossware Mail Signature but a lot of other add-in tasks as well.
If you are planning to upgrade to 8.5.1 you are advised to use the following notes.ini variable:
DISABLE_LOG_DBGROUP=1
This will revert to the 8.5.0 method of logging to log.nsf.
Additional information can be found on the IBM website at this link: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21410986
IBM have stated that the issue should have been resolved with Domino 8.5.1 FP1 and FP2 but we have received reports that the problem is still not resolved.
We recommend using the notes.ini variable above until further notice from IBM.
We are working with IBM to find a solution as it is not only Crossware Mail Signature but a common problem for several suppliers of extension manager add-ins that run on Lotus Domino.
