The following are the steps necessary for you to update to a unique certificate manually.

Note that Crossware recommends using the automatic process to avoid any potential mail flow issues. See here

  1. In the Exchange Admin Center, open the Crossware Inbound Connector and rename it to CrosswareInboundConnector-BACKUP. Leave the connector turned on.
This is the connector that you mail will continue to flow through until the grace period has elapsed.

  2. Generate a unique certificate via the Crossware portal and copy it to use back in the Exchange Admin Center. Once you have copied the certificate, you can close the dialog box. The certificate will always be stored here while you complete the process - https://portal.crossware365.com/cms/admin/connector

  3. Create a new inbound connector named CrosswareInboundConnector with your certificate and turn it on.

  4. Add the domain as an accepted domain. Navigate to the Admin Center and Select Settings > Domains. Adding this allows Crossware to identify the incoming email.

Copy the TXT value as per the screenshot below and leave the Admin Center on this page while you go back to the Crossware portal on a new tab.

  5. Add the TXT value to Crossware. Before verifying you must add the TXT value to Crossware via the Crossware Portal. In a new tab go back to the Crossware Portal.

Navigate back to the Update Manually button and paste the value in and then close the dialog box. This stage will be saved for when you come back.

  6. Verify the domain. Now that the TXT record has been added to Crossware you can verify your domain back in the Admin Center.

Uncheck Exchange and Exchange Online Protection and Finish

  7. Finally, you will need to confirm that you have completed the steps back in the Crossware Portal and Save your certificate to Crossware. Clicking Save will start the 30-minute grace period before switching you to your new unique certificate. This is to allow the Microsoft connectors to propagate fully.

It is very important that these steps have been completed otherwise your mail will not flow correctly.

You have now successfully updated your connector to a unique certificate and added it as an accepted domain.
