Important: Crossware recommends the automatic process to avoid any potential mail flow issues. Only use the manual steps if necessary.
Backup Existing Connector
- In Exchange Admin Center (EAC), rename:
Crossware Inbound Connector to CrosswareInboundConnector-BACKUP - Leave this connector enabled.
Make sure to leave the two checkboxes ticked.
Ensures mail continues to flow until the grace period finishes. If you turn this off your mail flow will be impacted.
Generate a Unique Certificate
- Go to the Crossware Portal > Admin > Connector.
- Click Update Manually.
- (A) Generate a unique certificate and (B) copy it for later use in Exchange Admin Center.
- Click Next.
Create New Inbound Connector
- In a new tab, go to Exchange Admin Center, go to Mail Flow > Connectors.
- Select + Add a connector.
- From: Your organisation’s email server
- To: Office 365
- Enter name as CrosswareInboundConnector and tick Turn it on and Retain internal Exchange email headers.
- Paste the new certificate generated.
Add Accepted Domain
- In Microsoft 365 Admin Center, go to Settings > Domains > Add Domain.
- Add the unique certificate domain as an Accepted Domain
Note: You don't need to do the DNS change within your own DNS. This is updated on Crossware's side.
- Copy the TXT record value provided.
Add TXT Value in Crossware Portal
Go back to the Crossware Portal > Admin > Connector.
Select Update Manually.
Paste the TXT value and click Add.
Make sure to include the MS=Close the dialog box (progress will be saved).
Verify the Domain
Return back to Microsoft 365 Admin Center Domains setting.
Click Verify.
Uncheck Exchange and Exchange Online Protection then click Continue
Finalise in Crossware Portal
Back in the Crossware Portal, confirm steps are completed and click Save.
This starts the 30-minute grace period before switching you to your new unique certificate. This is to allow the Microsoft connectors to propagate fully.
You have successfully updated to a unique certificate and added it as an accepted domain. Mail flow will continue uninterrupted.
You can delete the CrosswareInboundConnector-BACKUP after 2 days.
